Another Change Of Direction With Dividers

One Direction

Yet again I've been making One Direction dividers for my niece.  The last divider I made was back in the summer and inexpensive photos were extremely difficult to get hold of.  For these dividers I purchased a One Direction annual for £1.99 in a post-Christmas sale.  The annual had an exceptional amount of pictures of One Direction inside making it excellent value for money.  These dividers are going to be a New Year gift for my niece and I hope she will like them.

I must point out that in this second photo One Direction are not actually on fire, it's just the way the camera flash has caught the laminate.

I would so very much have liked to make similar dividers for my own Filofax organiser with photos of Cillian Murphy but sadly they don't make Christmas annuals with him in.

My To Do Lists

Recycling My To Do Lists And Notes

Earlier this month I showed you how I personalised my To Do Lists and Notes, since then I've come across a way to make theses pages last even longer.  My to do lists and notes are often in excellent condition once they're finished with so I thought I would reuse them again with scraps of paper I have left over from other projects.  I won't do this with every to do list but once in a while it will make my lists look more interesting.

All I have done is take my leftover scraps of craft paper, cut them to size with my paper trimmer then stick them over the previous notes I have made.  I like to view it as a simple way of adding extra colour to my to do lists without spending any money.

A Filofax Christmas Wish

Osterley A5 Grey Organiser

As I've said so many times before, I don't need another Filofax organiser. Unfortunately that doesn't prevent Filofax organisers shouting "Buy me" in my ear.  This time it's the beautiful A5 Grey Osterley.  I have admired the Osterley for a while now especially since I've started using my A5 Amazona.

A5 Osterley

The A5 Osterley would allow me so much more space for putting everything I wish to keep inside it.  As always it has lots of pockets, a full length one, two half pockets and six credit card holders.  It also made of beautiful Italian calf leather.

As so often is the case I cannot afford the £190 for a new one. I don't expect the Filofax Christmas Fairy to deliver me one on Christmas Day so I shall have to keep my eyes open for a less expensive second hand one. I won't be holding my breath though

My Filofax Week 40

My Week

I realise it's over a month since I posted My Filofax Week but here it is again.   I know I haven't posted weeks 36 to 39 but as they exist I'm numbering this post as if the previous ones were published, I hope that makes sense.

As you can see I'm suffering from insomnia again, three to four hours sleep a night seems to be my maximum. Busy with all things Christmas but I'm almost ready.  Here is My Filofax Week and I hope as always you find it interesting.

I don't know if I will be doing another post before Christmas so I shall now wish you all a Christmas that is merry and bright.  For the New Year I wish you not only peace but also goodwill.

Until next time

Setting Up My Amazona

Personalising My Amazona Dividers

I've never used an A5 Filofax on a daily basis before but that's all about to change.  As I said in my previous post about Good Quality Notepaper, I have recently been doing a diet project for Janet over at This Bug's Life.  To enable me to do the posts she provided me with an A5 Amazona.  While doing the project I fell in love with the Amazona and will now be using it as my everyday Filofax.  It's going to take me a little while to set up the Amazona and also quite a while to personalise all my dividers.  I am going to keep you regularly updated on the progress that I'm making with my personalisation and when all the updates are completed I will do a blog post to show the Amazona set up and dividers in their entirety

The first divider that I have completed is the one for my notes and to do list.  I recently posted my new to do list which continues to work well for me.  Here is is my notes divider.

My next divider that I personalised was the one for my diary.  The images I used for this were cut from a John Lewis magazine.  Some store magazines have such beautiful photographs that are demanding to be up-cycled.  I just love these beach huts.

Just two dividers personalised so far but as I have said I will be keeping you updated regularly as each divider is personalised.

Pocket Filofax A-Z Dividers

Recycling My Dividers

Recently I decided to turn my Pink Pocket Breast Cancer Filofax into an A-Z to hold all my online passwords.  Unfortunately for me I'd given away my only set of pocket A-Z dividers as a Filorak earlier this year.  I know I could have bought new ones but financial restraints made this an option I didn't want to pursue.  I have over the past year bought a number of Personal Filofax which have a large amount of unused A-Z dividers inside them.  What I decided to do was cut some of the dividers to size and use them inside my Pocket.  So below you can see exactly how I did it.

After Trimming

Re-punched Holes And Inserted Into Filofax

As you can see they're not the same as A-Z dividers had I bought them?  They're also not perfect but they will do exactly the job they need to do.  So I can honestly say I'm happy with the finished result.  I have my A-Z dividers and I didn't need to pay for them.

Christmas With My Filofax

A Christmas Divider

I know perhaps it’s a little late but I thought I would show you the divider I made for the Christmas section of my Filofax.  The Christmas section contains my Christmas to do list, my Christmas card list with names and addresses, my present list and a list of Christmas quizzes for Christmas Day.  For obvious reasons I can't show you most of the lists.  What I can show you though is my divider.

Christmas Divider Cover

The images and text were all snipped from a Christmas magazine and then laminated.

Divider Reverse

Finally here is some blotting paper which I made up and personalised just for Christmas with some Washi tape.

I like to think that the divider has added a little festive spirit to my Filofax.

A5 Diary Pages

Not Exactly A New Diary

Since I began putting the Amazona together for future use it was obvious I was going to need some diary pages.  In the past I've always used Filofax diary inserts but a number of pens that I've used have bled through.  I wanted diary inserts that had thicker paper to help prevent bleed through and also wasn't too expensive to buy.  I went to my collection of old diaries that I'd purchased on sale and found one from Paperchase that I'd never used.  The diary has quite thick pages so will be perfect.

Unfortunately the diary is for 2012 but that is not a problem.  After removing the pages with a craft knife, trimming the paper slightly and punching in the necessary holes I then got to work on changing the date.  I've covered up the date with flowered Washi tape and then placed plain Washi tape over the top so I can write the correct date.  The diary pages are perfect for me as I am now making entries that resemble a journal.

Before Pages

After Pages

The diary pages are plain and simple and sometimes that's all you need.

Personalising My To Do List

To Do Lists And Notes

Today's post as I mentioned yesterday is to let you all know how I have personalised my to do lists and notes for my A5 Amazona.  Originally when I made up the pages for my to do lists and notes I used a ruler to make the grid to separate notes but I felt this looked messy and unprofessional.  To get past this problem I used my printer to add the grids for me.  With only a little trial and error I soon had a grid I was happy with. Finally for a little embellishment I added some Washi tape. Here is the final result.

Whether or not the page will continue looking the same as it does now remains to be seen.  It looks less messy at the moment than my previous scribbled notes but only time will tell if it will continue to be that way.

Flex A5 Notebook

Good Quality Notepaper

First of all I want to apologise for my lack of posts recently.  Yet again I have been unwell hence the blog silence.  I hope to have a few posts coming up in the next week or so starting with my Flex notepaper today.

Since I've started doing posts about my diet for Janet over at This Bug's Life I've really fallen in love with the Brown A5 Amazona she provided me with to keep my diet project in.  When the project is completed I will be using this Filofax for my everyday use.  One of the drawbacks with any Personal Filofax for me is the fact I never felt I had enough space for making notes and writing down what I want or need to do.  Often to compensate for this I was carrying around an A5 notebook as well.  The notebook unfortunately lacked structure and the notes I put into it would often be very messy. Hopefully in my next post I will be able to show you exactly how I have personalised the paper for notes and to do lists.  So I made the decision to move up to the A5 Amazona.  I wanted some good quality notepaper to reduce the problem of possible ink bleeding through.  Then I remembered that the lovely people at Filofax in Burgess Hill had given me an A5 Flex ruled notebook.

Flex A5 Notebook

I took a craft knife and gently cut the threads securing the pages in the notebook and trimmed the edges slight with my paper trimmer.  Then I used my single hole punch to make the necessary holes to allow me put the paper into my Amazona.  Below you can see the finished result.

I also have a Flex Nappa leather notebook holder which came with a jotter.  The jotter is fantastic for keeping in the back of my Amazona for the times I need to write someone a short note.

Flex Jotter

As I said I hope to be doing more posts shortly which will show you how I'm setting up my Amazona and how I will be personalising it.
